Arlington School Shooter Will Move to Adult Prison
The now 19-year-old gunman who killed a classmate at Arlington’s Lamar High School in 2023 will spend the rest of his 40-year prison sentence in the adult system. Jonathan Lorenzo Porter was 15 at the time of the shooting.

A judge decided he will be transferred from juvenile to adult prison. The case involved the death of Jay’Shaun Porier and injuries to others.

This decision reflects the severity of the school shooting and the transition to adult consequences. The community continues to heal from the tragedy.

The move ensures he serves his full sentence in the appropriate facility.
